Your “Home” page should be very simple. It should give an efficient way for the viewer to discern whether or not they are at a website that will be beneficial to them, if your services are what they are looking for and if you have presented them in a logical, concise and visually stimulating way.

Your logo and graphics are paramount in accomplishing this. A picture speaks 1000 words? You’ve got about 15 seconds to capture your audience’s attention and guide them further into your site, instead of to the “back” button or the web search box for a better option.

The order of the menu bar at the top is important. You want to guide the viewer on a journey throughout your website that is logical in format: This is a snapshot of me (home), this is what I do (content 1), this is who I am (content 2), this is an example of my work (blog/sample), and this is how to get in touch with me (contact).
